Maria Eugenia Davila and Gustavo Portillo chose Mérida, Venezuela, as the place to cultivate their silkworm larvae, which they brought from China to Venezuela in 1983.

For over 40 years, amidst the imposing mountains of the Venezuelan Andes, at 5348 feet above sea level, their workshop and silk research and production center have been operating.

It is there where years of knowledge in the world of sericulture and the textile industry make possible their subtle and sophisticated handmade products, recognized by UNESCO for their contribution to creativity in the field of silk design and weaving.
