It is best to avoid direct contact with the cedar wood rings in case the natural oils in the wood transfers onto clothes or the drawers etc. Place a piece of paper underneath the rings to be sure. When the scent of the cedar wood starts to fade, you can sandpaper the wood slightly to release the oils.
